Plymouth Raiders 71 -85
DMU Leicester Riders
BBL
Championship
Plymouth
Kularoos Plymouth
Raiders closed the gap
on league leaders
Sheffield Sharks after a
superb 85-71 road win at
DMU Leicester Riders.
The
Raiders are still in
fourth but level on
points with Guildford
Heat and Milton Keynes
Lions in second and
third respectively.
Leicester’s dismal run
continues and they
remain eighth.
After
an even first quarter,
which finished 21-21,
the Raiders began to
take control. At half
time the score was 43-40
in their favour and
there was more to come
after the interval.
Alistair Gall hit a
three and Andrew Lasker
notched five-points as
the visitors went 62-56
in front with ten
minutes remaining.
Riders were hampered by
the loss of point-guard
Rob Paternostro with an
ankle injury during the
third quarter.
In
the final stanza
Plymouth continued to
pull away with the help
of a couple of Leicester
technical fouls.
DeAntoine Beasley
(pictured) led the
Raiders scoring with a
game-high 22.

Milton Keynes Lions
84-70 DMU Leicester
Riders
BBL
Championship
Bletchley LC
The
Milton Keynes Lions
moved clear in second
place in the BBL
Championship with a
convincing 84-70 victory
over the DMU Leicester
Riders, thus bouncing
back from their first
defeat on their home
floor last week.
The
Lions opened with the
first four points of the
game but a Delme
Herriman three-pointer
capped a 5 point
response from the
visitors to give them
their only lead of the
game at 4-5. Terrell
Brown then sparked a
14-2 burst with
back-to-back triples as
the Lions posted a 22-10
first quarter.
A
further trio of
three-pointers blew the
game open as a 15-4
surge gave the Lions a
21 point lead. Andrew
Alleyne scored the last
basket of the half for
the Riders with the
Sharks leading 46-29.
The
visitors staged a
comeback in the third
frame as a 16-5 response
brought them back within
striking distance at
51-45. However, that run
was halted by treys from
Brown and Robert
Youngblood as the Lions
pushed it back out to 11
points at 61-50 going
into the decisive
stanza.
A
barrage of threes
effectively settled the
game as the lead reached
79-57 and a strong
finish from the Riders
wasn't enough.
Tony
Windless (pictured
right) continued his
return from injury with
19 points, with Kevin
Griffin and Terrell
Brown netting 16 each.
Shawn Myers scored 18
and snatched 13 rebounds
for Leicester.

Worcester Wolves 62-84
DMU Leicester Riders
BBL Championship
Worcester Wolves’ poor
start to the season
continued on Saturday
night as they fell at
home to eighth placed
DMU Leicester Riders.
The
Wolves held their own
through the first
quarter as no less then
seven different
Worcester players found
the hoop. Riders,
though, still came out
on top 22-19.
The
lead was still three
(36-39) at half time as
the Wolves battled
bravely to stay in
contention. However,
after the interval it
was a different story as
the Riders’ experience
began to show.
A 20-9 quarter by Karl
Brown’s team blew the
match open and from then
on there was no way back
for the Wolves. Yorick
Williams (pictured
right) led the scoring
for Leicester with a
game high total of 23.

Riders 72 - Jets 83
DMU Leicester Riders
suffered a second
consecutive home defeat
as they went down 83-72
to Chester Jets.
A slow start to the
second half by the
Riders proved the
decisive factor, despite
a fine fourth quarter
showing.
Jets had the hot hand in
the opening six minutes
hitting four triples as
they eased out to a
16-11 lead.
Despite some good work
inside from Barry Lamble,
Riders were still 27-21
behind at the end of the
first before Shawn Myers
and Yorick Williams took
over the game in the
second quarter.
They both hit from long
range and a Myers
three-point play was
also part of a 14-2 run
by the Riders which gave
them a 38-33 advantage.
The pair hit another
trey each in a 10-4
burst and in all
combined for 21 of
Riders 30 second quarter
points on their way to a
51-45 half-time lead.
Riders, though, just
couldn’t get anything to
go at the start of the
second half and Chester
took full advantage. The
Jets rattled in 13
unanswered points before
Lamble laid in Riders
first back of the
quarter at the mid-point
of the third.
Jets led 68-57 going
into the final period
but Myers and Williams
again sparked the Riders
revival. With some
suffocating full court
defence Riders held the
Jets scoreless for five
minutes as part of a
12-2 start to the final
quarter which made it
69-70 just three minutes
from the end.
But a triple from
Maurice Hargrow steadied
the ship for the Jets
and sparked a 7-0 reply
to make the game safe
and Jets padded their
winning margin from the
line in the dying
seconds.
Oh his home debut Shawn
Myers posted 18 points,
6 boards and 4 steals,
whilst Yorick Williams
hit four long bombs in
his 16 point haul. Barry
Lamble did much of his
good work in the first
for 11 points, whilst
despite struggling
through injury Rob
Paternostro was a point
away from a
double-double with 10
assists. Drew Alleyne
led the team in
rebounding with 11 and 6
points, whilst Del
Herriman had 9 boards to
go with 4 assists and 5
points. Dave Aliu
chipped in with 6 points
and Adam Williams had
Riders other point.
The Jets were led by 19
points, 9 assists and 5
steals from Maurice
Hargrow, whilst Jaz
Cowan also chipped in
with 19. James Hamilton
posted a double-double
13 and 14.

Brown adds Myers to side
DMU
Leicester Riders head
coach Karl Brown has
added standout BBL
forward Shawn Myers to
his roster ahead of a
big weekend for the
club.
6’6”, 37 year old Myers
brings with him a wealth
of experience with a
career including stops
at BBL rivals,
Springfield Honda
Newcastle Eagles,
Scottish Phoenix Honda
Rocks and up until the
end of last season at
the Chester Jets.
Myers has posted
impressive numbers
during his BBL career
averaging 20.72 points
and 9.47 rebounds per
game over his 184 game
stint. He has also been
no stranger to the medal
podium, being an
integral part of the
Jets Championship
winning side in 2004-05
and prior to that
claiming the MVP in the
Playoff Championship
Final as he helped the
Rocks to success back in
2002-03.
Brown is understandably
delighted to have landed
his man “Shawn is a
great veteran of the
league as his record
reflects,” said Brown.
“He’s been a consistent
performer throughout his
career and is a
fantastic rebounder and
a real threat at the
offensive end.”
Riders are on the road
in the BBL Cup this
evening against the
Sheffield Sharks (7.30,
EIS Sheffield). Home
fans will get the
opportunity to welcome
Myers the following
evening against Chester
Jets at the John
Sandford Sports Centre
(7.30).

Sharks 76 - Riders 64
The
Sheffield Sharks
progressed through to
the BBL Cup semi-finals
after a fourth quarter
surge helped them past
the DMU Leicester Riders
at the EIS on Friday.
The visitors actually
had the better of the
first quarter and led
13-16 going into the
break. However, the
Sharks, who last won the
tournament in 2003/04,
came back to lead 36-34
as the teams headed to
the locker room at the
half-way point.
The thrid quarter
remained close and it
was a one-point ball
game going into the
decisive stanza. The
Sharks came out strong
in the fourth period and
outscored the Riders by
20-9 to join the
Springfield Honda
Newcastle Eagles in the
semi-final draw.
A couple of players
stood out for the
victors, Blake Shelton
(pictured right) netted
22 points and also had 8
rebounds and 6 steals,
whilst Jeff Bonds scored
19 points and dished out
5 assists. The visitors,
who were missing
Terrence McGee, were led
by Andrew Alleyne's 22
points. Debutant Shawn
Myers scored 7 points
and snatched 12
rebounds.
